Anne received her BA at National University of Ireland in 1975 followed by a certificate in Public Administration and a Diploma in European Law.  More recently Anne has completed a diploma in Corporate Governance from the Smurfit Business School.  Anne spent 40+ years in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Department of the Taoiseach.  She retired as Ambassador to Japan in 2018.  Anne was Joint Secretary in the North-South Ministerial Council, Ambassador to Tanzania, Kenya and Burundi and in Ireland’s Embassy in Washington DC, the Consulate General of Ireland and Ireland’s Permanent Mission to the UN, both in New York.  When in Dublin Anne’s positions included Director-General Europe Division and Director of the National Forum on Europe. She is currently Special Envoy of the Government of Ireland for Ireland’s UN Security Council Campaign.
