2021 Development of a Mixed Glial in vitro Robust Platform for Therapeutic Applications in Spinal Cord Injury
Location: Zoom
Vaibhav received his BSc in Biotechnology in 2011, MSc in Biophysics in 2013 from Mumbai University, India and MSc in Neuropharmacology from National University of Ireland Galway, Ireland. After completing his master’s degree, he worked as a Research Associate at CÚRAM focusing on the development of functionalised cell-seeded bio-artificial organ for transplantation in nerve repair as a part of ‘Neurograft’ project.
Vaibhav’s PhD research, supervised by Professor Abhay Pandit and Dr Siobhan McMahon, focused on the development of “robust in vitro mixed glial platforms” to study the progression of spinal cord injury (SCI) associated inflammation. Additionally, his work also established high throughput screening platforms to screen anti-inflammatory compounds for treating SCI. During his PhD, Vaibhav has published four manuscripts and there are two others in the submission process. He has also filed one IDF to date. In addition, he has been awarded a Neuroscience Ireland travel grant and received a best poster award.
