Professor Padraic Fallon from Trinity College Dublin will deliver a seminar for CÚRAM researchers.
Professor Fallon is a leading figure in Translational Immunology at Trinity’s School of Medicine, where he also serves as Associate Dean of Research. With over three decades of academic and leadership experience, his career includes distinguished roles such as Wellcome Trust Fellow at the University of Cambridge (UK) and NATO Visiting Scientist at Cornell University (USA).
A recognised leader in translational immunology, Padraic Fallon has made several seminal contributions to the field, with research discoveries spanning inflammatory diseases, clinical immunology, and infectious diseases, including helminth infections. He has supervised more than 30 MSc and 13 PhD students and is currently Deputy Director (Ireland) of the Irish Clinical Academic Training Programme.
Professor Fallon is the author of over 230 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, ranked in the top 1% of scientists worldwide by citations in immunology for a number of years. His research programmes have been supported by over €18 million in funding as Principal Investigator, and an additional >€45 million as co-Principal Investigator. In addition to his research, Professor Fallon contributes to national and international scientific governance, serving on bodies such as the Board of Dublin Dental University Hospital, two SFI/RI Research Centre Governance boards, and the European Research Council (ERC) grant panels. His contributions have been recognised through numerous awards, including the SFI Stokes Professorship (2008), Membership of the Royal Irish Academy (2014), and Doctor of Science (University of Wales, 2015).
