Designing Ethical and Statistically Sound Experiments: from Principles to Sample Size Calculation with G*Power

Speaker: Davood Roshan and Kishor Das

Location: Biomedical Sciences Building, University of Galway

Date: Tuesday, 30th September 2025

CÚRAM researchers are invited to participate in a specialised training session on Biostatistics, designed to provide essential skills for designing and evaluating statistically sound experiments. The training will incorporate hands-on learning with G*Power, enabling participants to master sample size calculations and principles of ethical research design.

Learning Objectives

In this training, participants will:

  • Grasp core components of a statistically robust experiment
  • Learn different formal experimental designs
  • Master key components of sample size calculation
  • Become familiar with the use of G*Power software

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Apply core principles of experimental design
  • Interpret and evaluate statistical power
  • Conduct power and sample size calculations using G*Power
  • Design ethical and statistically robust experiments

Registration

The event is open to registered participants only. The registration link will be provided directly to CÚRAM researchers via email.
