Mairéad Hurley has 15 years experience in scientific research, education, and public engagement with science.
Mairéad is an Assistant Professor in Science & Society Education, School of Education, Trinity College Dublin. Her research interests lie at the intersection of science education, communication and public engagement, with a particular focus on non-formal learning environments that connect the STEM disciplines with the arts. She was the Principal Investigator of the European Commission-funded project SySTEM 2020 which examined science learning outside the classroom in 19 countries across Europe (2018-2021). She holds a PhD in astronomy and has experience as a teacher of secondary school science and mathematics.
