Neil J Rowan holds an Adjunct Professorship to the College of Medicine and Health at University of Galway where he is also a Principal Investigator in RINN Centre for Research and Innovation in Medical Devices. Neil specializes in sterilization science, disease prevention and sustainability where he appears on Standford’s list of top 2% scientists globally. He is Director of the Centre for Sustainable Disinfection, Sterilization and Biosecurity at Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) where he lectures in the Faculty of Science and Health.
Neil was awarded a Higher Doctorate of Science (D.Sc.) by the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK) recognising his distinguished contributions to advancing these topics over 3 decades. He holds honorary Professorships for biotechnology in the Universiti Malaya (Malaysia), and for disease prevention at University of KwaZulu Natal (South Africa). Neil has supervised over 40 doctorates including academics, industrialists and clinicians. He as led interdisciplinary projects valued over €45m that includes development of technologies ranging from dosimetry to use of AI and machine learning such as in terminal sterilization applications.
He is a member of the new National Science Advice Forum for strategic policies, a member of new Scientific Committee of Food Safety Authority of Ireland, and sole Irish representative on the UN Panel for Effects of Nuclear War. His H-factor is 57 with ca. 20k followers on Linkedin.
