Speaker: Shona Pfeiffer
Location: Biomedical Sciences Building, University of Galway
Date: Thursday, 20th March 2025
We are excited to announce an upcoming talk by Dr. Shona Pfeifer, a Principal Investigator and Lecturer at the RCSI University of Medicine & Health Sciences.
Dr. Pfeiffer’s research focuses on the identification of molecular signatures and elucidation of signalling networks associated with disease pathophysiology for the development of novel diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic targets in the treatment of acute stroke and diabetes mellitus. She is particularly interested in the roles and regulatory mechanisms of small non-coding RNAs underlying cellular stress response, neuronal injury and ischaemic brain damage for the development of novel biomarkers and targets for disease modification, diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Pfeiffer is lead of the MicroRNAs as Novel Diagnostics in stroke (MiND) study, a collaborative clinically-oriented translational research programme focused on small non-coding RNAs as biomarkers in advancing the treatment of acute ischaemic stroke.
The event will take place on the 20th of March at CÚRAM. Additional details to follow.
