Speaker: Kate Connor
Location: Biomedical Sciences Building, University of Galway
Date: Tuesday, 27th October 2026
Dr Kate Connor is an Assistant Professor in Physiology at Trinity College Dublin and Co-Founder and Vice President of the Irish Neuro-Oncology Society. Her research sits at the intersection of tumour biology and neuroscience, with a particular focus on how the tumour microenvironment and peritumoral brain shape glioblastoma (GBM) progression and brain tumour-related epilepsy (BTRE). Her lab investigates tumour–brain–immune interactions, aiming to translate disease biology into more precise and effective therapeutic strategies for both GBM and its neurological complications.
The Connor Lab develops and interrogates clinically relevant preclinical models of glioblastoma, integrating advanced preclinical imaging with longitudinal in vivo EEG to track tumour progression alongside changes in brain function. Complementing these models, the group uses ex vivo electrophysiology in acute mouse and human brain tissue to explore neuronal network dysfunction within the peritumoral brain. Together, these approaches aim to uncover disease mechanisms, identify therapeutic vulnerabilities, and evaluate targeted and drug-repurposing strategies for GBM and BTRE.
The seminar will be hosted by Catalina Vallejo-Giraldo
All are welcome to attend.
