Josep Fumadó Navarro graduated in Biochemistry from the Rovira i Virgili University (Spain) and obtained a Master’s degree in Advanced Biotechnology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). During his studies, he gained research experience at the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (Spain), the Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy (Poland) and the start-up ZIP Solutions SL (Spain). He then worked for two years as a research assistant at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC).
Josep joined CÚRAM as part of the lifETIME CDT program under the supervision of Dr Mihai Lomora and Prof Abhay Pandit. His PhD project focuses on developing a vascularization strategy for brain organoids to create a fully human, physiologically relevant model that bridges the gap between preclinical and clinical studies. Recently, he completed an ERASMUS+ mobility at EMBL Barcelona with Dr Maria Bernabeu, where he combined organoids with microfluidic technologies.
The seminar is hosted by Mihai Lomora and Abhay Pandit.
