Giuliano earned a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Viçosa, Brazil, and completed his MSc and PhD in Immunology (2014) at the University of São Paulo, focusing on gut inflammatory diseases. He held postdoctoral positions at MedImmune/AstraZeneca in Cambridge and the Butantan Institute in Brazil. For six years, he was a Senior Postdoc at the Italian Institute of Technology, working on synthetic promoters to improve CAR-T therapies.
Currently, he is working at the University of Galway under the supervision of Aideen Ryan and co-supervision of Michael O’Dwyer, and his project focuses on engineering T cells to overcome immunosuppression in colorectal cancer by targeting the sialic acid–Siglec immune checkpoint pathway.
