Mona Shahlaei

Mona earned her Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at the Materials and Energy Research Centre (MERC) in Iran, where she specialised in drug delivery using proteins and extracellular vesicles (EVs). In 2024, she undertook a short research period at Aarhus University Hospital and the iNANO Centre in Denmark. She is currently conducting research at the University of Galway under the supervision of Thomas Ritter, focusing on the therapeutic applications of EVs in medicine. Her project involves developing a biomaterial platform for the controlled delivery of MSC-EVs to promote ocular cell and nerve regeneration following injury, using in vitro models.
