Sameer completed the BS-MS dual degree programme from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, India where he gained a good base in the 4 pillars of science: biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics and further delved a little deeper into immunology. He did his Master’s thesis project at the Turku Centre for Biotechnology, Finland working on Treg epigenetics. During his PhD at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, he studied host-pathogen interactions on biomaterial surfaces, specifically, silicone catheter surfaces. Now at CÚRAM, in the University of Galway, he is working with Abhay Pandit on immunomodulation of the foreign body response.
