Postdoctoral Researcher
Wahaaj obtained his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from NUST, Pakistan, and received the Chung Ang Young Scientist Scholarship (CAYSS) to pursue a master’s in mechanical engineering at Chung Ang University, Korea, where he developed biomedical composites. He completed his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering under the Marie Curie Industrial Doctorate Program (BioImplant ITN) at IMDEA Materials Institute, Spain, and MEOTEC GmbH, Germany, focusing on bioabsorbable wires, coatings, and composites for orthopaedic applications. He recently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Galway, where he investigated diabetic bone fragility using advanced imaging techniques. At CÚRAM, he collaborates with Laoise McNamara and Stryker to develop methods for assessing thermal tissue damage by electrosurgical instruments.
