April 29th 2025:
CÚRAM has been selected to represent Irish biomedical research as part of the beautiful exhibit currently in place at the Ireland Pavilion at the World Expo, Osaka, Japan 2025. The Expo runs until October 2025 and has 160 countries and international organisations participating.
Over the course of six months, millions of people will visit Osaka to absorb and participate in diverse experiences from around the world. The theme of Expo 2025 Osaka is ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, with three sub-themes of saving lives, connecting lives and empowering lives.
The Pavilion, designed by the Office of Public Works features three intersecting elliptical forms featuring Magnus RINN, a monumental sculpture by Joseph Walsh Studio at its entrance.
CÚRAM features in Ellipse Two, which explores shared creative traditions between Ireland and Japan, and features samples of biomaterials used in medical devices, alongside work by Joe Hogan, Frances Lambe, Clara Kumagai, The Tweed Project, Tomás Mac Uileagóid, and Cartoon Saloon. The exhibit, celebrating the theme Creativity Connects People, showcases how creativity – across disciplines like biomedical research, design, music and craft – is a defining human trait that unites us all.
